Dolomites Destination Guide
There are mountain destinations that are defined by a single resort. The Dolomites are not one of them.
Stretching across northern Italy, this UNESCO World Heritage landscape is home to an extraordinary collection of valleys, villages and ski areas, each with its own character, traditions and spectacular scenery. Here, skiing becomes more than simply reaching the next lift. It becomes a journey through dramatic limestone peaks, hidden mountain passes, charming alpine villages and some of the finest mountain cuisine anywhere in Europe.
For those looking to experience the Italian Alps at their very best, the Dolomites offer one of Europe’s most rewarding winter adventures.
The Skiing
The skiing itself is exceptional. Wide, immaculately prepared pistes connect famous destinations including Cortina d’Ampezzo, Val Gardena, Alta Badia, Arabba and Val di Fassa, allowing skiers to explore a remarkable variety of terrain throughout their stay. Yet many visitors discover that it is the rhythm of life in the Dolomites that leaves the greatest impression.
Long lunches on sunny terraces, family-run mountain rifugi serving traditional Ladin cuisine, welcoming boutique hotels and breathtaking scenery around almost every corner create an experience that feels unmistakably Italian. The pace is gentler than many Alpine resorts, encouraging guests to slow down, savour the journey and appreciate that some of the best moments happen away from the pistes.

Why We Love the Dolomites
The Dolomites remind us that skiing doesn’t always have to be about skiing.
Some of our favourite memories have come from discovering a hidden mountain restaurant recommended by a local guide, arriving at a beautiful family-run hotel after a day crossing several valleys, or sitting outside with a glass of wine while the afternoon sun lights up the pale limestone peaks that make this landscape so distinctive.
There is a warmth to the Dolomites that feels wonderfully authentic. The hospitality is genuine, the food is exceptional and every valley seems to have its own story to tell. It is one of the few places where travelling between destinations becomes every bit as enjoyable as arriving.
For us, the Dolomites represent everything we love about mountain travel: spectacular scenery, exceptional food, welcoming people and the pleasure of discovering somewhere new every single day.
