St Anton Destination Guide
Some ski resorts are defined by luxury. Others by the scale of their ski area or the glamour of their reputation. St Anton is different.
Widely regarded as the birthplace of modern Alpine skiing, it has earned its place among the world’s great mountain destinations through generations of skiing heritage, remarkable terrain and an atmosphere that remains refreshingly authentic.
At its heart is a traditional Austrian village where long-standing family businesses sit alongside elegant hotels, welcoming restaurants and some of the Alps’ finest private chalets. The skiing is, quite simply, exceptional.
Ski Area
As part of the Arlberg, Austria’s largest interconnected ski area, St Anton offers more than 300 kilometres of pistes and some of Europe’s most celebrated off-piste terrain. Confident skiers are drawn here for the challenge and variety, while beginners and intermediates quickly discover that there is far more to the Arlberg than its reputation suggests, with beautifully prepared cruising runs, excellent ski schools and neighbouring villages offering something for every ability.
Yet what defines St Anton is the atmosphere.
There is an energy here that is difficult to describe until you’ve experienced it. Long lunches in traditional mountain restaurants, lively afternoons on sunny terraces, evenings spent with friends over exceptional Austrian hospitality and the quiet confidence of a village that has never forgotten why people first came here—to ski.
St Anton doesn’t try to be fashionable. It doesn’t need to. It remains one of the Alps’ most respected ski destinations because it has stayed true to itself, offering world-class skiing, genuine mountain culture and a warmth that keeps guests returning season after season.

Why We Love St Anton
We’ve been fortunate enough to spend more than twenty-five winters calling St Anton home, and it remains the resort we know better than anywhere else in the Alps.
What keeps drawing us back isn’t simply the skiing, although few places in Europe offer such variety and challenge. It’s the character of the village, the people, the traditions and the feeling that skiing still sits at the very centre of everyday life. There’s an honesty to St Anton that is increasingly rare. It doesn’t need to reinvent itself every season or compete for attention. It has quietly built one of the strongest reputations in the mountains by remaining authentic, welcoming and uncompromisingly true to its roots.
For us, St Anton is more than a ski resort. It’s a place that has shaped friendships, created lifelong memories and continually reminds us why we fell in love with the mountains in the first place.
